China Reference Guide (Livebinder) 

  • Create a Livebinder account at www.livebinders.com
  • Organize tabs by subtopics including but not limited to: Introduction, two topics of Choice, Web 2.0 Tool, Facts of China, Facts of Silk Road, Resources, and Maps.
  • Post embedded code for Livebinder on wiki page by Monday, September 27 @ 3:00 P.M.
  • Beginning on Sept 27, you must have 2 new references updated daily.
  • Minimum of 10 references due by October 1 @ 3:00 P.M. 
  • This is a continuous assignment until the completion of this unit. 
9/27  Digital Avatar (Voki) 
  • Using references from your China Reference Guide (livebinders.com) to create a script on one topic of your choice. 
  • This script must be at least 1 minute and no more than 3 minutes in length when read aloud. 
  • Create a Voki account at www.voki.com
  • The Voki must have a background and avatar that portrays your selected topic.
  • Enter your text into the text reader function to use the computer generated voice. 
  • Voki must be embedded on wiki page no later than Oct 4 @ 3:00 P.M. 
9/28  Digital Word Wall (Wordle) 
  • Create a Wordle account at http://www.wordle.net/.
  • Using your script from Digital Avatar assignment, create a Wordle Cloud. 
  • Embed your Wordle on the Wordle wiki page no later than Oct 4 @ 3:00 PM
9/29 Virtual Tour of the Silk Road (Google Earth) 
  • Identify 5 of the major ancient cities in China along the Silk Road.
  • Create place markers for each of the 5 major cities.
  • Organize them in order of a trade route.
  • Save this as a .KMZ and insert and link this on your wiki page no later than Oct 8 @ 3:00 P.M. 
9/30 Ancient China Digital Timeline (Capzles or Dipity) 
  • Using the two topics of choice, create a single timeline using either Capzles (www.capzles.com) or Dipity (www.dipity.com).
  • There must be at least 10 events.
  • Each event must include a form of media (pictures, maps, video, hyperlinks, etc...)
  • Embed your timeline on your wiki page no later than Oct 8 @ 3:00 P.M. 
10/1  Silk Road Digital Collage (Glogster)
  • Create a Glogster account at www.glogster.com
  • Collect at least 10 photos of the Silk Road and post on your glogster
  • Create multimedia presentation on the Silk Road and post (i.e. digital story, slide show, podcast or vodcast). 
  • Embed on your wiki page no later than Oct 8 @ 3:00 P.M. 
10/4 China and the Silk Road Presentation (Slideshare, Authorstream, & Prezi) 
  • Create a presentation using either Slideshare (www.slideshare.com), Authorstream (www.authorstream.com), or Prezi (www.prezi.com).
  • The presentation is to be an introduction to the Silk Road and the major cities along the route.
  • You must include at least 3 different forms of media within the presentation. 
  • Embed your presentation on your wiki page no later than Oct 8 @ 3:00 P.M.
