Section I C: Define the instructional purpose for the unit of study in terms of relevance to real life applications.

  • Participants will review the NET standards as they apply to teachers and administrators, we will create a unit of study and demonstrate how technology can be incorporated into the common core using the unit development template.

Section I D: Record below from the Unpacking Template what students have to know and be able to do in order to meet selected targeted standards. (Write these statements in student friendly language.)

Students will know:

  • That inflection points and paradigm shifts sometimes triggers a catalyst in new ways of thinking.
  • That the unit development model has five stages for full implementation when adopting technology to the Common Core.
  • That the flipped classroom has four distinct elements that include management, instruction, assessment, and authentic learning.
  • The difference between syncronous learning and asyncronous learning.
  • The four sections and their descriptions and how to complete a thematic unit.

Students will be able to do:

  • Use a presentation tool to explain how inflection points and paradigm shifts sometimes triggers a catalyst in new ways of thinking.
  • Provide ways for others to collaborate  when creating a presentation that outlines the prerequisites in designing a Common Core Unit.
  • Create a future model for educating students in the Common Core through the use of personal learning environments.

  • Construct a thematic unit that will facilitate authentic learning by integrating multiple technology tools to support Common Core and NET standards.

Section I E: Identify essential questions that will be used in gaining student interest.

  • How can we model digital age work in the classroom to ensure that students understand the essential skills needed to compete in the work force of tomorrow?
